Stop the Keystone oil pipeline

The planet is heating up. Since 2000, we've experienced 13 of the 14 hottest years on record and this past year was the hottest. Scientists say there’s a limit to how much carbon we can add to the atmosphere before global warming spirals out of control. We’re starting to bend the curve of rising emissions, but not quickly enough.

  1. I studied this topic as well and I agree, Keystone Pipeline should be stopped. Putting an extreme amount of carbon in the air is unsafe and creates more global pollution and is unnecessary.

  2. I agree too. I think that stopping the keystone oil pipeline will stop a lot of the pollution that is adding to global warming and other problems.

  3. I really enjoyed reading your post because it's an issue I've heard about but never been able to study. I think that it should be stopped as well due to the already disastrous global warming problem. I also think the drought is related to this problem about the hottest years and global warming.

  4. This should be stopped because it will cross over 1000 rivers, lakes, and streams, including one of the country's most important aquifers, where spills could lead to wildlife death and contamination of farming water sources, potentially creating a food crisis. "Building Keystone XL would add 27.4 million metric tons of carbon pollution to our atmosphere per year. That's the equivalent of putting another 5.7 million cars on the road." That is the opposite of what we need. We need to reduce the amount of carbon emissions by implementing cap and trade, using renewable energy, not flying or driving as much, etc.

  5. This is a serious proposal that could create even more damage to the U.S. And it's environment. We already have caused a lot of problems with Oil spills already, and like Maya said, it will be crossing near and over large and important bodies of water.

  6. Getting rid of the oil pipe would work

  7. This pipeline seems like it will risk a lot more than it will reward. Even if one hole erupts in it the whole pipeline is stopped, so it doesn't even seem efficient. If it breaks it kills so many.

  8. I think the real problem with the pipeline would be oil spills and damaging nature. The line runs through many national parks and has already been having leaks.
