with practice and games. Since they said more tests needs to be done, then how does that make it safe? You may be risking the lives of ton of people!! I mean you breaking down uses old tiers. EW! Tiers really wow good job you have found some thing else to kill us with, when were suppose to be having fun playing our sport or other activity. Thanks

  1. I read about this too. It's terrible to think that kids all over the country are in danger because people are using cheap used tires to make fake fields. In the article I read, there was possibly a link between the terf on the fields and a type of disease or cancer. I hope we change the way we make fields soon!

  2. This is definitely an big issue, but there should probably be a study done, as antidotal evidence isn't quite enough. What could we use instead of these supposedly cancer-causing chemicals? Perhaps back to just grass fields, or some other synthetic material that is organic?

  3. This is a big deal in the world and there needs to be more studies done because antidotal evidence just doesn't really give us enough information. I think the solution is to just got back to regular grass fields or some other thing that is organic

  4. That's awful I had no idea. I can't believe that the chemicals are causing cancer. They should go back to using normal grass on fields instead of all of the chemicals.

    1. I agree but grass fields are most expensive and for some places harder to maintain because of the weather aka: Us

  5. I play soccer too and am exposed to turf all the time. This is horrible and know I will tell other people about this. Something needs to happen now! I think we should find a replacement that doesn't affect your health.

  6. This is a serious problem because so many people play soccer. They should find a similar substance that does not have negative health consequences.

  7. I never knew that turf was so bad for us, and that it was made of old tires. I also didn't know that it could give us cancer. I hope that they can soon find a new way to make turf that isn't bad for us.

  8. I never realized that turf could make us sick and have cancer. That Is so bad that kids are playing on chemical fields and putting themselves in danger I think to fix this they should stop being so lazy and cheap and just use real grass instead of that fake stuff. I know that it is annoying to keep grass in good condition because of rain or lack of rain so I see why they do this but they should find a way to not use tires in turf.

  9. This seems pretty recent. They should make sure that all the turf doesn't have toxins in it because this could cause a huge health epidemic

  10. I recently read about the problems with turf. It's a big problem for all the kids who love to play sports but if we find a solution to this like the article says, we won't have to go through a lot of trouble if kids want to play sports. We need to find a solution to this.

  11. I am shocked to hear that turf is deadly. I play baseball and I play on turf. I can't believe that it can give you cancer. The high school field and football field is all turf. That is very deadly to high school athletes. I also play soccer so I am also very exposed to turf. I will be much more cautious when near turf.

  12. Yikes! Cancer from fake grass, this is not good! People need to find other materials to make fields with like plastic or something. So many people play soccer this is a huge problem. Can't the companies do something to make this more safe?

  13. We definitely find alternate resources to make turf, such as safer plastic grass and rubber that is not made out of recycled tires. We probably can't use real grass, especially in California because our major drought.

  14. I agree! We should find an alternative substance to make the turf out of. I play soccer as well and if we can't find a solution, there could be some negative consequences. I'm sure there is something besides TIRES to make fake grass out of...

  15. This is very surprising, turf also causes major knee issues and a kid on my football team tore his ACL and MCL. I don't want to die.

  16. It makes sense for soccer fields to use turf because of the low maintenance, low cost, and it looks pretty nice, but why not make it out of something like all the recycled plastic we are creating?
