Want Earth to Burn Up Like a Star?

Global warming is a reality. Our world today is hotter when it has been two thousand years! We are experiencing faster sea level rise and more extreme weather than scientists had previously predicted. It is mainly caused by our reliance on fossil fuels. There are ways to solve this but people are not taking this into action. If global warming keeps continuing by the end of the century, the global temperature will likely climb higher than at any time in the past two million years.

  1. Global warming is obviously a huge problem and we know the steps we need to take to help negate its consequences, such as cutting way back on fossil fuel consumption and using more renewable energy such as solar, tidal, and wind power. But you are right, many people aren't doing anything. How can we make people take action? Would government actions work?

  2. This is an important subject and you definitely show the consequences. One thing that may help global warming is the fact that fossil fuels are running low. Evidence and studies have shown that all of our known sources will run out by 2052. This would definitely reduce global warming. But what if another source of global warming begins?

  3. I think that it is crazy how fast our earth is heating. I personally think that the way to get people to take action is inform and educate them on what is happening. I think that many people have heard of global warming But do not really know what it is or the cause. If people were given advice and information about what they could do it would help. Adding on the what Maya said above, I think government actions will be necessary eventually.

  4. Yes global warming is bad but earth will not burn like a star. Actually this pattern happens a lot. There is an ice age were the earth gets very cold and is covered by ice, and then the earth gets hot and the ice melts and the earth is land and water. But the earth is hotter than ever.

  5. Even though the earth maybe hot right now I am sure that we can fix this if people around the world took the necessary steps to prevent our earth from heating up further. For example considering that 19% of all pollution is due to transportation, according to your article, we could fix this by driving more fuel efficient cars such as electric cars.

  6. I agree that global warming is a huge issue. If we don't take drastic precautions now then the ice caps will continue to melt and sea levels will rise even higher. If the sea levels rise then all the coastal cities will flood. I agree with you and the article that this issue is due to our reliance on fossil fuels. To add onto what Maya said I think our government needs to take action. They need to Inform the public on this major global problem, and try to prevent further damage.

  8. I have known for a long time that global warming is a large issue that is caused from the CO2 being put into the atmosphere. Some of the biggest contributors to the CO2 emissions are the power plants burning coal or natural gas and When vehicles burn Gasoline or Diesel fuel. Americans are some of the biggest contributors to these emissions and we need to find other energy sources and modes of transportation.

  10. I found your post intresting, but I think the titles a bit too extreme. I know it's a joke, but not in a million years will the earth reach the Suns temperature. Maybe in a couple billion though...

  11. Global warming really is a big issue it seems, and with the ice caps melting, many cities will be under water soon if we don't help!
