New England Slit Snail Soon to Derail

The New England Slit Snail is a beautiful creature, with it's glossy spiral shell. Unfortunately for these majestic creatures they are going extinct. The slit snails generally live in slightly salty coastal water. Toxic substances from drainage systems are harming these snails. This article is from 2008...

  1. I had never heard of this type of snail until now and it's really sad to think that our actions are killing them. The article says how "Unregulated development adjacent to the drainage systems that contain this species is a potential threat, as is a change in hydrology or the leaching of toxic substances into the snail’s habitat." I think people need to be a lot more careful about where they dump there toxics. The ocean is not the right place. I think there should be a fine for putting toxic substances in the ocean and it shouldn't go unnoticed.
