MA Moth infestation

The winter moth is an invasive species of Massachusetts.  The larvae tunnel into buds of flowers, fruits, and trees and feast on them.  Once they have devoured their food, they will move on to another bud, and the next after that.  Winter moths in MA mainly feed on maple, oak, and crabapple trees.  Large infestations can completely destroy the host plant.

  1. So is this happening just in Massachusetts, or has it spread to other places nearby?

  2. Also, which areas of Massachusetts is this happening in, or is it all of Massachusetts?

  3. i was actually completely unaware of any moth disasters in MA. Moths are Native to Europe, and they are an invasive species with no natural predator other than cold weather. It is believed they will remain a hazard for ten more years, inexorably expanding their terrain west and south.

  4. People really need to learn what creatures they bring in from foreign places. The tough thing about invasive species, though, is that there's no perfect way to remove them. You could try to bring in a species that eat the moths, but then that species might overpopulate. To solve this issue, the only way might be bug spray.

  5. Invasive species are destroying plant live and our food. If they keep repopulating, this invasive species could become a permanent species. I'm not sure how we can try to solve this problem but that doesn't mean we should give up.

  6. I feel the governments of everywhere in the world need to work on really reinforcing the boundaries between the different territories. If invasive species keep on coming over from different countries to Disrupt and tear apart the secluded, individual environments Then entire food chains will be destroyed, leading to a completely catastrophic breakdown and extinction of thousands, maybe even millions, of life forms and possibly even altering our way of life as we know it. If the governments where to do this then it would lead to a lot less invasive species interfering with ecosystems, all it takes is a couple of minutes to check a persons baggage before they cross the border to stop all of this from happening.
