Death to the turtles!

link:http://seaworld.org/en/animal-info/animal-infobooks/sea-turtles/longevity-and-causes-of-death/
many sea turtles die because of the increasing amount of developed beaches the turtles have to go.
many of them are dieng because the cant find home and many specises find sea turtle babies there dinner.

  1. I also think we really need to save the turtles. The artivle mentioned a dangerous skin tumor diseas, i wonder if we are creating a cure for that or if we can find a way to treat it.

  2. Turtles are an important part of the oceans ecosystem, if they die out all the other animals in the area will began to struggle as well. Everything's connected, like dominos. 🐢

  3. Yes the beaches are all developed and glorified for human pleasure and it's seriously hurting the turtles that have no where to go and the turtle population will suffer greatly.

  4. I agree with what Gracie said.

  5. Since we, humans have made the beaches better for us and not thought of others like the sea turtles, we have been hurting them a lot. We need to think of others and do things that will not affect anything at all.

  6. I found your post very interesting and the title caught my attention. I wonder what animals prey on infant turtles, and if the turtles are a key species in the ecosystem. And how their collapse could possibly effect the environment and animals that inhabit them.

  7. I think this post is a very interesting topic and issue that us humans should address as quickly as possible. In my opinion, we should research specific beaches that turtles have a reoccurring visit to, and close the beach for the turtles safety. Without immediate attention to this problem, I believe these turtles will be completely endangered.

  8. People should protect the beaches and the ocean where the sea turtles live. The way science can help is not biologically, but medically. In the website a sea world veterinarian was helping with fixing the sea turtle's back. With new ways to help using stem cells science can fix and save sea turtles in the world who need help. If we don't help soon, there won't be any to help.

  9. I remember watching a show about sea turtles and how there life is very hard. Sea turtles have many predators to begin with and I thinks it's sad that sea turtles are dead because of human actions.

  10. Get some big turtle catching nets to keep them off the beach problem solved

  11. this affects our ecosystem. If this is a strong food source for animals this can make the food chain tumble. Since the turtle hatchlings are main primary pieces of food for many animals this can change the world in the sea. i really like the way you took away from the article.

  12. I agree with your statement. There was one part in the article that really caught my attention and it was about The natural disasters that can affect their Nesting success and if global warming gets worse there will be more storms, and that could really affect them.

  13. I feel that if the main reason that they're dying is because of natural predators then we need to leave nature to take its own course or else we could harm the environment more than we help it. Also, humans are the top of the food chain all around the world so even if some species of Animals so die, before humans where around many species of animals died out because of overeating and environmental change. And yet life has kept on thriving, adapting and evolving to the new changes, and that is what we must do if we want to survive. So in order to keep the food chain from disintegrating before its meant to naturally happen we have to keep as many species alive as possible and if that means making some beaches off limits and making only some beaches able to be visited then that's a sacrifice that humans are going to have to take.

  14. It's interesting, because sea turtles are so susceptible to the environmental changes that we have created, for an example the article said "Some sea turtles die when they ingest trash.", so by looking at their species it is easy to see the damage that we have created. It has more to do than just the sea turtles, it is a reminder that we nee to change things fast, because it isn't just the sea turtles that are being harmed.

  15. I think to solve the problem of turtles not nesting because there are so many people at the beach, that during nesting season either some beaches or parts of the beaches be closed off so people can't disturb the turtles.

  16. This is crazy because the turtles ussually have a really long life span. The fibropapillomas infection sounds very dangerous and looks very harmful to their life. Are the turtles being helped when they get it ? How can humans help?

  17. We need to start reserving some of these beaches for wildlife only, if turtles can't lay their eggs then the species will start dying off and that will eventually kill off the larger species that eat turtles and so on. If we just give three or four beaches, then we can save a whole species. It seems like a little price to pay for a big reward. I have also heard of turtles dying because they have gotten tangled in fishnets. There should also be more no fishing zones so that turtles can have time to populate and regrow their population. The less interferance with humans, the better for the turtles.

  18. This is crazy. I think their should be special beaches formed to house baby turtle eggs that birds can't get into. The article says that die from natural predators and I think that this is totally normal but if one species is going extinct, we should try to save it in order to keep the ecosystem in tact.

  19. I definitely think that we as humans can help these animals thrive. I understand that some predators need to eat the baby turtles-obviously, the circle of life. But I think that we should assist the animals because there are fewer of these little guys than all the birds waiting for these eggs to hatch. We can possibly use the resources we have to protect them and potentially save their species.

  20. I saw in the article that "Some sea turtles die when they ingest trash. Leatherbacks are especially susceptible to ingesting plastic, mistaking it for jellyfish." Maybe we could have a law that makes companies have "sea-safe" packaging and trash, so that it wouldn't be harmful to turtles or other aquatic life that ingested it, and degrade in the sea so animals wouldn't be caught in it. This is important issue because sea turtles are known to be important for trimming Coral reefs and vegetation in the oceans, and without them the plants would overgrow and die.

  21. Turtles are a very key part to the oceanic ecosystem, and I urge scientists to combat and solve this horrible problem that is killing turtles.
