Air Pollution Dangerously High for Half the U.S.
In this article, it is reported that almost half the U.S. lives in areas where air pollution levels are often dangerously high for them to breathe. It says that they find "47 percent of Americans live in counties with frequently unhealthy levels of either ozone or particulate pollution." In fact, that's five percent more Americans compared to last year's tally. The reading tells you more information about specific places with the best and worst conditions along with statuses and updates.

Yeah, pollution is a growing issue and its only going to get worse. we need to start taking responsibility for our actions and not just wait for the next generation to fix it. People are being affected by it and health hazards are very high due to all types of pollution in the world.
ReplyDeleteIn order to help fix this worldwide problem we must continue finding greener ways to travel such as electric cars, rather than gas guzzling trucks.
ReplyDeleteGreat article, I wonder why salinas has such good air quality even those it's fairly close to San Jose, a major city.
ReplyDeleteAir pollution is definitely a problem in the U.S. The fact that half the air that we breathe is polluted is horrible and bad for our bodies. A solution for this problem is that people could use more Eco-friendly things, such as electric automobiles. Additionally, it's especially bad that since last year, the amount of people who live in unhealthy ozones and breathe polluted air has gone up 5%. At this rate, eventually, there will be no clean air to breathe!
ReplyDeleteThis is an environmental problem as well as a health problem. According to the report, 140 million Americans who live in areas with high levels of ozone are at risk for premature death, aggravated asthma, difficulty breathing and future cardiovascular problems. Though the EPA says Since the passage of the Clean Air Act in 1970, the United States has cut down on air pollutants by more than 41 percent as of 2010, there is still a huge problem. We need to focus on using renewable non polluting energy sources and driving less.
ReplyDeleteThis is a huge issue that everyone needs to know about and we need to find a way to decrease air pollution or our planet is gonna be ruined. It's good that the E.P.A is trying to regulate the pollution in coal power plants that will be really good for our world. It's crazy that 47 percent of Americans live in areas with too much ozone or pollution
ReplyDeletei think this could be a huge problem because has anyone considered how this could be affecting people with asthma? i actually do have asthma and its hard enough to breathe as it is. im assuming that if the polution rates become higher, my inhaler will have to become my best friend :P
ReplyDeleteI also read an article about this topic, and it is a very seriously problem. I find it surprising that 47% of the U.S. live in places where it is dangerous. A solution might be to cut back on pollution like using your car, and start thinking about the environment. I also think we need to make people aware of the issue, because many people do not know what. They are doing is harming the planet so much.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that 47 percent of Americans live in areas with polluted air. Also, because the tally is increasing, it means that air pollution is only getting worse. To solve this we need to use less polluting cars and start being greener and more air-sufficient.
ReplyDeletewe are so lucky that where we live in california, doesnt have bad ozone or particle areas. i can't believe that all of the highest areas are in California. Its interesting that some countries are living in a "bowl". I bet that in areas like china, the air pollution is really bad and their ozones are not too good. Whats the air like in MA?
ReplyDeleteYeah I know right! I hope we can find something that could cure air pollution! I hope!
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that most things that are friendly to the environment are expensive, we should try to make cheep things that could help the environment.
ReplyDeleteAfter I read this article what shocked me the most is the statistic that stated the one half of the U.S population is living in areas with dangerously high air pollution. Air pollution can result In numerous health issues such as lung cancer. We need to start being more aware of the pollution we put out in the air and the effect it has on our health.
ReplyDeletewe are so lucky that where we live in california, doesnt have bad ozone or particle areas. i can't believe that all of the highest areas are in California. Its interesting that some countries are living in a "bowl". I also can't believe that " 47 percent of Americans live in counties with frequently unhealthy levels of either ozone or particulate pollution. That's up from 42 percent in last year's report." This could be reasons why so many America are having so many horrible diseases. I say that there should be more global clean ups to help the earth go green. Maybe that could also help clear the air. I bet that in areas like china, the air pollution is really bad and their ozones are not too good. Whats the air like in MA?
ReplyDeleteIf we want to solve this pollution problem, we need to start making cleaner cars and stop driving cars so much. "The amount of ozone is "strongly related to the amount of automobile exhaust, which is related to population density," explained Edelman, a professor of preventive and internal medicine at Stony Brook University." We need to start carpooling, walking and biking more, before we damage the planet beyond repair.
ReplyDeleteI find it surprising that 47 percent of the U.S lives in places where pollution is high. A solution to this would be for people to walk and bike more or use fuel efficient cars or cars that are hybrid instead of driving big SUVs that are gas guzzlers. Especially since most of this pollution is coming from cars.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if we could find a way to make H2O fueled cars popular and accessible. This would solve the problem of air pollution and oil mining at the same time!
