Disneyland Measles

In the past month or so, measles have been rampant centering around disneyland.  Visitors to the famous theme park have been leaving and promptly finding themselves with this dreadful disease.  These visitors were from over 10 States and the nation of Mexico.  One of the main causes to this outbreak was people who chose to not receive the immunizations to diseases such as measles.

  1. I believe that this is a serious problem for health should of the highest concern. I believe that we could fix this by greater encourage of vitamins and healthier foods to help increase resistance to the disease. I also believe that we could use copper, which has qualities that kills bacteria that comes into contact with.

  2. I think that parents should consider the health of their kids when deciding wether or not to vaccinate their children or not. I think that doctors should I force their opinions more and try to persuade parents to vaccinate their kids.

  3. With so many kids in the park this definitely a serious health concern that needs to be taken care of. We have exterminated measles before and with new modern technologies and advances in medicine we should be able to become measles free once again especially with the help of vaccines to prevent a large nation wide out break.

  4. There are many health concerns in the world and there are a few solutions to it. Measles is a big health concern to all parents for their kids. A solution would be getting your kid vaccinated. Vaccination would help prevent many problems for your kids.

  5. I think that parents should check if there kids are healthy before bringing them to a place were they could make people sick.

  6. There are many diseases that could make your kids and others sick and bad. One solution is getting vaccinated because it will help prevent the diseases coming in your body. In research it shows that getting vaccinated is a good idea and it works.

  7. Vaccination is a very hot topic - some believe very strongly that inoculations should not be required but I disagree. Science and modern medicine have made a way to keep people from getting measles, so why not take advantage of that to stay healthy. Just one dose of the MMR vaccine is 93% effective against three diseases and two doses are 97% effective, according to the CDC. Why wouldn't one want to stay healthy?

  9. Just shut down Disney land for awhile and disinfect it so there's no more measles.

    1. But it's not Disneyland itself that is causing the problem, its the large amount of people who come and go from Disneyland everyday, who bring in the sicknesses and germs. So there has to be some rules and regulations put up in order to regulate the amount of germs that get in down to none.

    2. A temporary solution Disney could use to stop the spread of measles (other than vaccination) could be some kind of bacteria test on your hand. This sounds weird, but maybe there could be a machine developed to work just like the weapon detection system in TSA airport security lines where the agents swab traveler's hands and quickly analyze it to make sure the samples don't contain gun powder, or in our case, the measles. I'm not sure how scientists or engineers would go about making this machine, but because science these days is advancing to become smaller, faster, and better, I'm sure it would be possible in the future.

  10. This a very serious problem. Disney land is one of the most visited places in the world. Measles is a horrible disease and I am shocked to hear that it has spread over it. Disney land probably has lost a lot of money from this issue and I think that they should disinfect the entire park. This means that they have to close the entire park for a day to get the disease out. This is a major problem everywhere because Disney land is so popular.

    1. Measles is a serious disease that starts with a small rash and turns over time into a full body rash, with high fevers and other symptoms. It also is the disease that kills the most young kids even though there is a efficient vaccine.

  12. This is terrible, especially since Disneyland is portrayed as "The Happiest place on earth!" This best way for this to be solved is if we close down the park for awhile and make sure we disinfect it and get the measles out!! People need to start taking care of themselves, if they get the shot nothing bad can come out of that, and it will protect them from the measles disease! Although it will cause a massive disturbance if we close down the park it is the best thing to do in this state.

  13. I really do find it pretty sad that some people would rather contract a terrible disease with symptoms that are pretty rough instead of getting a simple injection that can keep you healthy for years on end. The only reason that this breakout made such a big impact was because it was started in such a big place where thousands of people go to everyday, if this where to happen anywhere else such as a water park, it probably wouldn't be such a big deal because a water park is nowhere near as big as or regocnizable as Disney land. I think this because due to the fact that Disney is so big other companies want its customers. This would make these other companies want to go to any length in order to make more money, however if this epidemic where to happen in their park it wouldn't really have much effect.

  14. I think that they should close the park a while so they can get the outbreak under control and keep it from becoming bigger. people come rom around the world to see disneyland and if they let tourists in the park this could be spread to many different regions and affect so many more people than it has so far. This is a small problem that hopefully won't become larger.

  15. Disneyland should ask if there customers took an injection during the time they check in. So they can know who to not let in because they are dangerous

  16. I don't understand why a parents choose not to get their kids vaccinated and why adults don't get vaccinated themselves. If people just got shots it would make this a whole lot easier. I think another problem might be people not having health care so they can't get shots and that is a totally different issue all together.

  17. According to the NBC article, "Most belong to a tight-knit religious community with a low vaccination rate." I think that if a certain small community without vaccinations is infected, it is worth it to quarantine them for an incubation period, rather than let them infect more people. I also think that vaccinations should just be required by law, because you aren't just putting yourself in danger, you're endangering everyone around you too.

  18. Based on the artical I am led to believe that this is due to people not getting the vaccinations that are needed for their health. One solution is for Disneyland to be shut down for a short period of time so that it can be disinfected. Or maybe there needs to be a health form filled out before entering to prevent the spread of disease. If getting certain vaccinations was required by law than maybe the spread of disease would be lowered.

  19. I feel like people should get vaccinations to be safe and that Disneyland should shut down until they get the measles under control.

  20. People need to get their children immunized because infants and other kids who can't get the vaccine because they have bad diseases that make their immune system weak will get the measles if they don't. Babies can get the vaccine until they are one. "
Many who fell ill in the Disneyland episode were not immunized against measles. Some cited personal reasons for refusing shots, and others were too young to get the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine." People get their children vaccinated to protect the public not just to protect their children.

  21. This is a very big health concern for the entire country because so many tourists visit Disney Land, from all over the U.S. That article stated that "the outbreak sickened 147 people in the U.S." Disney Land and other tourists attractions like it should have a way to make sure that the people entering the parks are vaccinated. This would solve this problem and any more like it that might come in the future.

  22. This is a pretty big problem because Millions of people visit Disney Land a year. I think that before you go to Disney land you should get a vaccine just to make sure you won't end up getting Measels. I also think that Disney Land should close its doors until they figure out the problem.

  23. Vaccinating is just as importing as containing the outbreak. Soon, if a new law passes, all people must be vaccinated and can't say no because of religion. Then, the virus will be contained. Millions go to Disney Land every year, but it's about the rest of California. Let's say 1 in a 100 don't get the vaccination. There are approximately 33 million people in California, so there would be 33,000 unvaccinated people. That is why vaccination counts.

  24. This is a very serious problem and should be fixed asap. As the article states a few of the main causes are people refusing to use vaccines and the overall large population of visitors. The outbreak can be stopped be enforcing a vaccine rule stating all guests bust have a vaccine and or that the park should be shut down for a short while while this blows over.
